In keeping with the Government’s commitment towards the social and economic development of handloom weavers, the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, in collaboration with FDCI hosted ‘Weaves of Banaras’. This was part of the Make in India Week, held in Mumbai recently. In continuum, FDCI, took a step further and collaborated with the Gujarat State Khadi & Village Industries Board to present the second edition of ‘Huts to High Street. It endorsed the Prime Minister ’s message of reviving the enigma of khadi, at IIM Ahmedabad. Actors Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor walked the ramp showing solidarity with this fabric of freedom.
